Settlio is an expense-splitting app that helps you track shared costs with friends and settle up. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can get it deleted.
Settlio is operated by Ansh Gupta ("we", "us"). If you have any questions, email settlio@anshguptaa.in.
If you use "add friend from contacts", the app asks for permission to read your contacts on your device so you can pick someone from a list. Only the name, email address and/or phone number of the specific contact you tap is sent to our servers, in order to create that friend entry. We never upload your address book in bulk, and we do not use your contacts for advertising or to build a social graph.
If you use the in-app AI assistant, the messages you send and the relevant expense data needed to answer them are sent to Google's Gemini API. Your conversation history is stored so you can come back to it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Settlio is inherently shared. Other members of a group can see your name, profile photo, the expenses you add, your share of each expense, your balance with them, and any UPI ID you have saved. Do not put anything in an expense description that you would not want the whole group to read.
| Provider | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage for receipt images | Singapore |
| Amazon Web Services (EC2) | Application server | Mumbai, India |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Push notification delivery | Google infrastructure |
| Google Gemini API | Receipt text extraction and the AI assistant | Google infrastructure |
| Resend | Transactional and weekly summary emails | Resend infrastructure |
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and may store it outside India. We share only what each one needs to do its job.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of users.
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Server logs are kept for a short period for debugging and then discarded. When you delete your account, see section 6 for exactly what happens.
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Data is stored on managed infrastructure with row-level access controls, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
When you delete your account we permanently remove your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, saved UPI IDs, friends list, AI assistant conversations, notification settings and registered devices, and we delete your sign-in credentials so the account can never be accessed again.
We keep the expenses and settlements recorded in groups you shared with other people, shown against an anonymous "Deleted user" that cannot be linked back to you. This is necessary because those records are also other people's financial history — removing them would silently change the balances of everyone else in the group. You must settle all outstanding balances before your account can be deleted.
Settlio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
